Christopher Porter
Former NBA player, Christopher Porter, brings an exceptional level of experience, leadership, and passion to his role as Head Coach at In The Paint Academy. A former professional basketball player with a career spanning over a decade, Porter is known for his explosive athleticism, rebounding prowess, and deep knowledge of the game.
Born and raised in Abbeville, Alabama, Porter was a standout player in high school, leading Abbeville to a 4A State Championship and earning State Player of the Year honors. He continued his basketball career at Chipola College, where he was recognized as a JUCO All-American, before transferring to Auburn University. At Auburn, he became one of the most electrifying players in college basketball, earning SEC Player of the Year, SEC Rookie of the Year, and All-American honors while leading the Tigers to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen.
Porter was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 2000 NBA Draft and made an immediate impact as a rookie. Following his time in the NBA, he built an extensive international career, playing professionally in Italy, Portugal, China, the Philippines, and New Zealand, as well as in the NBA D-League, where he won a championship with the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in 2014. His playing career also included championships in the CBA (2002, 2004) and USBL (2002).
As Head Coach of In The Paint Academy, Porter is committed to developing young athletes by instilling discipline, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. His experience at the highest levels of basketball allows him to mentor and guide players, helping them reach their full potential both on and off the court. Under his leadership, the academy continues to foster a culture of growth, excellence, and opportunity for aspiring athletes.
Lamayn Wilson
Lamayn Wilson brings a wealth of international basketball experience and leadership to his role as Assistant Coach at In The Paint Academy. A dynamic forward with a versatile skill set, Wilson enjoyed a professional career spanning over a decade, competing at the highest levels across Europe, Asia, and beyond.
A native of Crenshaw County, Alabama, Wilson played high school basketball at Highland Home before continuing his collegiate career at Pearl River Community College and later Troy University. After going undrafted in the 2002 NBA Draft, he launched his professional career in Latvia with BK Skonto, setting the stage for a successful journey through some of the world’s top basketball leagues.
Wilson played for elite teams in Russia, Germany, France, Italy, Ukraine, China, Turkey, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and Georgia, making a name for himself as a key contributor and leader. During the 2007–08 season, he starred for ASVEL Basket, averaging 17.1 points and 5.8 rebounds in the ULEB Cup and helping the team capture the French Cup championship. He later competed in the EuroLeague with SLUC Nancy Basket.
One of Wilson’s most successful seasons came in 2010–11, when he played a pivotal role for BC Budivelnyk, leading them to the Ukrainian League championship and a EuroCup quarterfinals appearance. He continued his winning ways the following season, guiding ČEZ Basketball Nymburk to a Czech League title and a deep EuroCup run. His international career also includes a EuroChallenge championship (2013)and a Russian Cup title (2013).
As an assistant coach, Wilson brings a global perspective, strong player development skills, and a passion for mentoring young athletes. His experience competing at the highest levels of professional basketball allows him to provide valuable insights and guidance to the next generation of players. At In The Paint Academy, Wilson is dedicated to helping student-athletes refine their skills, build confidence, and develop the mindset needed for success on and off the court.
